Why Your Tesla Wrap Looks Stretched or Misaligned (and How to Fix It)
Stripes that cross panel gaps, logos on the wrong door, warped patterns: almost always a template mismatch or a changed aspect ratio. How to diagnose and fix a misaligned Tesla wrap.
Stripes that cross panel gaps, logos on the wrong door, warped patterns: almost always a template mismatch or a changed aspect ratio. How to diagnose and fix a misaligned Tesla wrap.
The usual cause: wrong template
Each Tesla body has its own wrap template, and the car maps the PNG onto its 3D model using that layout. A design made for a different model or model year — for example an original Model Y design on a 2025+ Model Y, or a Model 3 (2024+) Standard/Premium design on a Performance car — will load but land in the wrong places.
The second cause: changed proportions
Templates have fixed proportions: square for the cars, 1024×768 for Cybertruck. If an image was cropped, padded or resized to a different aspect ratio, the whole layout shifts. When reducing size, scale width and height by the same factor and stay within 512–1024 px.
How to fix it
- Identify your exact variant (see the Model Y and Model 3 template guides).
- Find or recreate the design on that template — the gallery is filtered per model, and the studio asks for the variant first.
- Export at the template’s native size and check it with the PNG checker.
- Copy it to the Wraps folder (or upload via the app) and re-select it in Toybox → Paint Shop.
Preview before you drive to the car
The TeslaWrap 3D preview uses the model you selected, so a mismatch is visible in the browser before you copy anything to USB.
